Pioneers Celebrate Senior Night with Varsity and JV Wins Over Southport

The Mooresville Pioneers girls tennis team celebrated senior night in style on Tuesday afternoon, hosting Southport and coming away with impressive victories in both varsity and junior varsity action. Varsity Recap – Mooresville 3, Southport 2 #1 Singles: Lyla Kaufman continued her dominant season with a commanding 6-2, 6-0 win. #2 Singles: Hadley Miller fought hard in a back-and-forth battle but came up just short, 6-3, 4-6, 5-7. #3 Singles: Adilynn Breedlove delivered a strong performance, winning 6-1, 6-1. #1 Doubles: Tori Shields and Emily Mettas played a tight match but fell 3-6, 6-7 (3-7). #2 Doubles: Jacey Bell and Grace Coon clinched the team win with a solid 6-4, 6-4 victory. Junior Varsity Recap – Mooresville 5, Southport 1 Singles: Hailey Hoffman cruised to an 8-1 win. Amelia Lindsey-Turnmire dropped a tough match, 1-6. Doubles: Carissa Kennedy / Ava Krauss: 8-1 win Brooklyn Rawlins / Lydia Vanover: 8-4 win Katie Taylor / Brooke Mitchell: 6-0 win Bre Eavey / Evie Welker: 6-3 win With the victory, the varsity team improves to 7-3 overall, while the JV squad moves to 4-3-1 on the season. Next Up The Pioneers are back in action this Thursday, April 24, as they hit the road to face Whiteland in a Mid-State Conference match-up. First serves are scheduled for 5 PM.
