Athlete of the Week – Unified Flag Football – Jaycee Fuller, Junior The Mooresville Unified Flag Football team picked up a big 38-19 road victory over Southport, and junior standout Jaycee Fuller delivered a milestone moment in the win. A third-year member of the Unified Flag Football program, Jaycee scored her first touchdown of the season on Wednesday night. Her score gave the Pioneers the lead against a tough Southport team and helped set the tone for the rest of the game. Jaycee’s effort, teamwork, and determination embody what Unified Flag Football is all about—competing with pride while celebrating every player’s contribution. Her touchdown, paired with the team’s first successful 2-point conversion of the year, highlighted a complete team performance in the victory. For her impact and leadership, Jaycee Fuller has been named Mooresville Athletics’ Athlete of the Week. Athlete of the Week – Football – Tyler Denny, Senior The Mooresville Pioneers opened the 2025 season in dramatic fashion with a 28-14 road win over Bloomington North, and senior standout Tyler Denny was at the center of the action. After falling behind 14-0 early, Denny sparked the Pioneers’ comeback with an electric 85-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, cutting the deficit in half and swinging momentum back to Mooresville. Minutes later, he hauled in a 12-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Connor Cruz, tying the game at 14 apiece late in the second quarter. Denny didn’t stop there. He came up big on the defensive side of the ball as well, recording an interception on Bloomington North’s first offensive play of the night and later forcing a fumble in the third quarter that the Pioneers recovered, stalling another Cougar drive. His versatility and playmaking on both sides of the ball set the tone for Mooresville’s first win of the season. Behind Denny’s performance, the Pioneers stormed back to score 28 unanswered points, with Cruz adding two more touchdown passes to Elijah Thompson and Brody Beasley. The defense held firm, limiting Bloomington North to just 130 total yards of offense. For his game-changing impact, Tyler Denny has been named Mooresville Athletics’ Athlete of the Week.
