Pioneers Split with Indian Creek: Varsity Falls 3-2, JV Wins 6-3

The Mooresville Pioneers Tennis Team hosted Indian Creek this afternoon, with the Braves earning a narrow 3-2 varsity victory. The Pioneers’ JV team, however, came away with a 6-3 win. For the varsity, Archer Query picked up a decisive victory at #1 singles, 6-2, 6-0. At #2 singles, Baylor Query battled hard but fell 6-7(5-7), 5-7. Jared Kempf turned in a dominant performance at #3 singles, winning 6-1, 6-0. In doubles play, Kolten Wilson and DJ Enkhorn lost 4-6, 4-6 at #1, while Ben Coffey and Grayson Furniss dropped their match at #2, 4-6, 0-6. In JV singles action, Gavin Cooper won 8-3, Grant Fox earned an 8-1 victory, and Abram Haack pulled out a tight 8-6 win. In doubles play, Landen Stoner and Zach Meador fell 5-8, Traejen Asher and Grant Fox lost 5-8, and Stoner with Cooper lost 5-7. The Pioneers bounced back with two wins, as Fox and Asher teamed up for a 7-6(7-0) victory, while Haack and Meador closed the night with a 6-1 win. On the season, the varsity moves to 10-10 overall, while the JV improves to 8-8-2. The Pioneers return to action tomorrow, September 25, when they host Franklin in their final Mid-State Conference match. Start time is set for 5:30 p.m.
