Athlete of the Week – Football – Journey Thompson, Senior This week’s Athlete of the Week is senior wide receiver Journey Thompson, who turned in one of the most dominant performances in Pioneer football history. In Mooresville’s 42–21 win over Perry Meridian, Journey exploded for 9 receptions, 283 yards, and 4 touchdowns, putting on an incredible display of athleticism, focus, and big-play ability. His performance helped propel the Pioneers to their second straight victory, closing out the regular season with a 5–4 record and a fourth-place finish in the Mid-State Conference (3–4). Journey’s effort, consistency, and competitive drive have made him one of the most dangerous offensive threats in the conference. His 283-yard, four-touchdown night will be remembered as one of the most prolific receiving games ever for the Pioneers—and a testament to his hard work and playmaking excellence.
